The Story

With its clear, lavender blooms Gladiolus 'Milka' really does look like those well-known chocolate bars enjoyed on continental holidays! The upright flower spikes reach approximately 1.4m in height, making them ideal for weaving throughout the back of a border. We love seeing these statuesque beauties paired with dahlias, salvias, roses, and phlox for a picture-perfect cottage garden vibe. Be sure to plant plenty of spares for the vase, as Gladiolus 'Milka' makes excellent cut flowers!

Plant your Gladiolus 'Milka' corms in spring at a depth of three times the corm. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot in moist, well-draining soil—add plenty of grit to the planting hole if you garden on clay, or perhaps go for a container filled with a gritty mix instead. The flowers of Gladiolus 'Milka' last around a fortnight, so we recommend staggering your planting (every two weeks throughout April and May) for a longer-lasting display.
