The Story
People who grow Hardy Geraniums for the first time generally fall in love with them, and quite soon end up with three, four or more different types. And whether you want just one, or lots, Geranium 'Album' should be in the mix! Its gorgeous large flowers, about 2.5cm across, are a stunning white, sometimes with a pinkish tinge. This is a British native plant, with rounded, heavily-lobed leaves that are mid- to deep green.
Known as the white wood cranesbill, Geranium 'Album' is widely grown in cottage gardens, but we would also recommend it highly for simple modern and minimalist plantings. The tall-stemmed flowers are at their best in June and Julyāand they need no support. The natural habitat for this plant is open woodland, so you can tell it will perform best in dappled or part-shadeāhowever, it is pretty good in full sun, too! Geranium sylvaticum 'Album' is the perfect companion for shrubs in open, mixed borders.
