Hyacinth 'Johanna'

Grow Hyacinth 'Johanna'—it makes scents! Ha! Of course, we all love the fragrance of hyacinths—it can cheer up a room or conservatory in late winter and early spring, enabling us to dream of warmer days ahead. However, it would be a shame to confine Hyacinth 'Johanna' to just a few bulbs-in-a-bowl! This variety produces some of the most eye-catching and vibrant of any pink. It’s an intense deep cerise pink, which is carried on sturdy spikes; individually, the blooms are large.  

Hyacinth 'Johanna' is a new variety, and therefore rare to find. However, in recent years it has been grown extensively for the cut-flower trade. This means, of course, that if you grow it outside and cut it at just the right stage in bud, you can bring beautiful cut blooms indoors for that all-important room-brightening. Or, bring a pot indoors that has spent the winter outside—Hyacinth 'Johanna' bulbs are frost hardy.
