Echinacea 'Hot Papaya'

Raised in the Netherlands just in the past few years, Echinacea 'Hot Papaya' produces amazing, double flowers on well-branched stems throughout summer. In its own way, this coneflower is quite revolutionary: the blooms emerge with florescent, papaya-coloured ‘ray petals’ and a deep orange-yellow central cone. It matures with rich, spicy orange ‘ray petals’ that are topped by a double, reddish-orange pompom. Also, each pompom has a deep papaya-coloured halo in the centre that grows with age!

Echinacea 'Hot Papaya' (Cone-fections™ Series) makes a strong, sturdy clump, with robust, deep green foliage and thick stems with maroon markings. It grows to around 80cm / 32", making it a good choice for the mid-way part of a flower border.  The glowing flowers have real visual impact, even from quite a distance, especially when planted in groups. Finally, be sure to cut a few for stems to bring indoors, where the blooms will last nearly two weeks. 

Echinacea is a low-maintenance, undemanding plant that thrives both in garden soil and in containers, and is often used in naturalistic prairie gardens. It is fully hardy and easy to grow, making it ideal for gardeners of all skill levels.
