Dahlia collection 'Honka Mix'

Known variously as star, cartwheel or single orchid dahlias, the 'Honka' range is beautiful, in both the simplicity of its flowers and their intriguing, dainty nature. Not commonly seen in gardens, the simple, star-like blooms appear in a range of wonderful colours, from yellows, reds, maroons, pinks and whites, and often with contrasting colours at the edges of the petals. The central boss of stamens may be orange or yellow. Each flower, which has a light fragrance, comprises eight petals, which curl inwards towards their tip. Blooms start coming in mid-summer, and continue well into autumn!

Grow your 'Honka' dahlias in pots on the patio, or in a sunny border. If you live in an area that gets winter frost, you will need to lift and overwinter the tubers in a frost-free place. 

Don’t forget, also, that dahlias make fabulous cut flowers, so cut a bunch of these starry beauties and bring them indoors for some close-up colour!
